    The Senior Estimator is the leader of the National Estimating Department. This is a very interactive position which will regularly work with all members of the sales and operations teams to drive accurate, timely and competitive proposals. Direct reports may include inside estimator, project analyst and other supporting functions.

    • Organize, research, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and final submission to the sales and Sr. leadership team
    • Determine subcontractors to include in bidding process
    • Review plans and specifications for overall project understanding to identify risk in difficult work, operation, sequencing, project restrictions and time constraints
    • Understand and apply project constructability to the estimate format and costing
    • Discuss and establish bid strategies, concerns, and advantages
    • Establish work scopes for subcontractors, defining major and priority subs
    • Monitor coverage and solicit new subcontractors to bid projects
    • Review estimates and subcontractor proposals for accuracy and completeness to maximize revenue and minimize exposure
    • Establish General Conditions by determining a job schedule and job specific needs
    • Bring all document reviews and estimating completion to closure prior to bid deadlines
    • Track awarded contracts as required; may include estimating and pricing extra work items, change orders, materials, etc.
    • Provide full estimating on all types of projects (large, small, complex, hard bid, negotiated) and help train, support, and mentor sales and estimating teams
    • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back up estimate figures
    • Demonstrate competency, accuracy, and organization during bids
    • Assist in buyout process and budget set-up
    • Improve existing subcontractor relationships with open communication to ensure accuracy with estimates
    • Stay apprised of current bid market conditions
    • Interface regularly with team members to ensure complete understanding of the project scope
    • Ensure that team members, including subcontractors, understand initial project requirements and on-going updates to those requirements
    • Team player and positive collaborator with the company field supervision, project management, and administrative staff
    • Able to remain calm, focused, and effective under time-pressure situations
    • Other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned


    • 6+ years’ commercial construction estimating experience required, Insurance Restoration Estimating/Xactimate Experience a plus
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar or equivalent experience
    • Ability to prepare estimates with minimal supervision
    • Able to estimate all types of projects and contracts (hard bid, negotiated, and paper napkin bid), plus able to coordinate and supervise group work effort
    • Familiar with conceptual and schematic estimating
    • Organized and detailed with proven ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex commercial construction projects
    • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
    • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
    • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
    • Applicable mathematical skills
    • Proficient with building/estimating techniques and software:
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite
    • Current driver’s license
